Australian parliamentary delegation to visit Bangladesh

An Australian parliamentary delegation led by Speaker of the House of Representatives Milton Dick is set to visit Bangladesh this week to strengthen parliamentary‑to‑parliamentary engagement between the two countries.  The visit is part of a three‑country tour to Malaysia, Bangladesh, and Türkiye ahead of the 152nd Inter‑Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Istanbul on April 15-19.The delegation comprises of Speaker of the House of Representatives (Queensland) Milton Dick MP; Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (New South Wales) Sharon Claydon MP; Basem Abdo MP (Victoria); Senator Deborah O’Neill (New South Wales); https://www.profitablecpmratenetwork.com/e58t90k87?key=37a5595c76ad130cc1d75459f727e2a1Senator Andrew McLachlan CSC (South Australia); and Senator Tammy Tyrrell (Tasmania).According to a statement from the Australian High Commission in Dhaka, the visit underscores Australia’s commitment to supporting democratic governance, strong parliamentary institutions, and inclusive political participation.Discussions in Dhaka will focus on parliamentary systems, democratic norms, accountability, and Bangladesh’s ongoing democratic transition.

Australia supported Bangladesh’s February national elections through the UNDP‑led BALLOT Project.

During the visit, the delegation is expected to meet Bangladesh Parliament Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam, and other MPs. They will also tour the Parliament building and the July Revolution Memorial Museum, and are expected to observe parliamentary proceedings.
